You've booked your cleaning — great decision. Now, a few simple steps beforehand will help your team work more efficiently and get your home to the best possible result. You don't need to clean before we clean — but a little prep goes a long way.
⏱ This takes about 15–20 minutes and means your cleaning team spends more time on the actual deep work — and less time moving things around.
8 Simple Steps Before Your Cleaner Arrives
Pick up clutter from floors and surfaces
Clothes on the floor, toys, papers, dishes — move them out of the way. Cleaners clean, they don't organize. Clearing surfaces lets the team focus on actually scrubbing, not shuffling things around.
Put away valuables and fragile items
Jewelry, loose cash, collectibles, or anything irreplaceable should be safely stored before the team arrives. This protects your belongings and lets cleaners work freely without worrying about accidents.
Do a quick dish wash (or load the dishwasher)
A sink full of dishes limits kitchen cleaning. If you want the sink, counters, and stovetop fully cleaned, clear the dishes beforehand — or let us know to skip the kitchen sink area.
Secure your pets
Even friendly pets can slow down a cleaning team. Keep pets in a separate room or outside during the visit — it's safer for the animals and lets the team move through every room without interruption.
Point out any problem areas in advance
If there's a stubborn stain, a bathroom that needs extra attention, or a room you want prioritized — mention it when you book or leave a note. We'll adjust accordingly.
Make sure we have access
If you won't be home, leave a key, door code, or let your building know we're coming. We're fully insured and background-checked — many of our Connecticut clients prefer to be out while we work.
Clear bathroom counters
A cleared counter means we can disinfect every inch of the surface. Move your toiletries, toothbrushes, and makeup to a drawer or cabinet beforehand.
Let us know your preferences
Fragrance-free products? A specific order for rooms? Beds made a certain way? Tell us once and we'll remember for every visit. Good communication upfront saves time for everyone.
What You Don't Need to Do
We hear this a lot: "I cleaned before you came because I was embarrassed." Please don't. You hired us so you don't have to clean — we've seen everything and judge nothing. Here's what you can skip:
- Pre-scrubbing the bathroom
- Vacuuming before we arrive
- Washing floors
- Moving furniture (we handle that during deep cleans)
🏡 Bottom line: Pick up the clutter, secure the pets, give us access, and tell us your priorities. Everything else is our job.
